ALBERTON Christian Academy celebrated with their octogenarian on July 13.
Mrs Annette Johnson started her teaching career in 1956 and continues to educate and shape young minds. At the age of 53 she completed her degree in remedial teaching. She now teaches three days a week at Alberton Christian Academy .
To date, she has been teaching for 58 years. Mrs Johnson would like to see other teachers invest in the lives of children as well. “I love children dearly. It is important for me to help them reach their full potential,” she said. “I give God all the glory for keeping me strong,” Mrs Johnson proudly added. Her gift, she believes is working with children who struggle academically. Mrs Johnson loves to start her day sharing devotions with the kids.
Alberton Christian Academy honoured this special lady by organising a surprise high tea. “Alberton Christian Academy is privileged to have a teacher like Mrs Johnson. She has a passion for children and leads by example,” said the school principal Kathy de Klerk. “She always goes the extra mile and shows kindness and acceptance to everybody, staff and students alike.”
Mrs Johnson says her secret to longevity is to be selfless, always placing the needs of others before her own and never forgets to laugh a lot.
