JOHANNESBURG: Missing UJ student Palesa Madiba’s Facebook timeline is still active.
Friends, family and concerned social networkers have shared alerts of the missing student which details her description and what she was last seen wearing, all in hopes to speed up her safe return home. Palesa has been missing for four weeks.
On September 13, her family and friends were joined by community members in the south of Johannesburg where they held an outreach programme, distributing pamphlets and T-shirts with Palesa’s face to residents in the area.
The 21-year-old University of Johannesburg (UJ) student went missing on August 12 after she left her friend’s home where she’d been visiting over the Women’s Day long weekend, unfortunately Palesa did not make it to the school’s premises.
Palesa Madiba’s family are reported to be terrified but still holding on to the hope that she may still be alive. There has been widespread coverage of Madiba’s story but no leads have come of it.
Many have also taken to social media platform Facebook to spread the word and also raise facial recognition awareness around the country but have also expressed increasing worry over the time period that she has been missing. Some said they find solace in their prayers for her safe return.
“You do not deserve what has happened to you,” wrote a fellow student on her Facebook wall. “I just want to bump into you at UJ and tease you.”
“I haven’t given up on you short stuff, I still have you in my prayers and I know you’ll be back. God will answer our prayers.”
“Can’t stop thinking about you and your dimpled face, when you laugh. We haven’t given up on you Palee.”
Reportedly, police officers have questioned three people in connection with her disappearance however, those people were later released.
