Criminals target schools and churches

These are the easy targets.

SCHOOLS and churches have become easy targets for burglars in the area.

The criminals are believed by the community to be mostly drug addicts or, as they are commonly known, ”the nyaope boys”.

These nyaope boys don’t care whether it’s day or night when they do their job in order to obtain cash, to entertain their demanding addiction.

On Wednesday, August 24, burglars targeted the VGK/URC church in Citroen Street, between 15:00 and 16:45, while the caretaker had gone home. They stripped the air conditioner of all the components and copper parts.

The caretaker, Job Buitendag, who lives nearby, said he left the church at 15:00 and, when he returned at 17:00, to switch on the alarm, he discovered the break-in.

A burglary case was opened at the Eden Park SAPS and police are investigating.
