A BLOCKED drain on the corner of Weyers and Bosworth streets in Alrode South is causing a stink with people in the area.
RECORD reported on this issue a while back when it was found to be a recurring problem that the municipality couldn’t seem to find a solution to as they would drain the excess sewerage and it would flood again soon after.
Recently it seems to have happened yet again.
Themba Gadebe, spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, said: “The contractor has completed repairing a portion of the sewer pipe and manhole next to Kliprivier Road and Vereeniging Road.
“Upon inspection on Tuesday, November 1, the manhole which was repaired initially seemed to be flowing, but the flow was less due to the blockage upstream. The blockage that occurred is overflowing upstream from Vereeniging Road.”
“A truck is currently busy on site unblocking and once opened technicians will just confirm if it is not related to the initial blockage which the contractor had previously opened,” he added.
