Learners sent home over hairstyles

Learners not adhering to the school policy were sent home.

WHEN schools closed for the festive season in December, many learners experimented with new hairstyles.

Most girls followed the trend of black-and-white or red-and-black locks, while the boys showed off their colourful Mohawks.

All these styles were to be back to normal on the opening day of school, according to the school policy at Eden Park Secondary School

Still, some learners arrived at the opening day on Wednesday, January 11, with the unwanted styles.

According to the school, every parent was sent an SMS on Tuesday, January 10, to warn and inform about inappropriate hairstyles. The same was said to all learners at the assembly on the opening day.

Those who did not adhere to the policy were sent home, a decision they regarded as unfair.
