Exploration and discovery at Castillian

Learning through sensory exploration.

ELIZABETH Steenkamp, principal at Castillian, said learning is an experience and, involving all the senses on this journey leads to a discovery of the world around you.

“From the time we are born, our senses are our guide through the world around us. This is particularly important for babies and young children,” she said.

SMELLING: Connor Moriaty and Jordan Hollenbach discover what is inside a granadilla.

Castillian provides endless opportunities for its young learners to make fascinating discoveries.

“We believe our children learn best through experimentation and discovery of facts and relationships on their own. Our children are not always asked to memorise facts or learn by listening but rather to manipulate materials, experiment and discover by themselves,” she added.

FEELING: Boikarabelo Lebelo builds tall trees while learning about the garden.
