A DELIVERY bike rider (27) died after he was hit by a bakkie on Swartkoppies Road near Poets Street on May 29.

According to sources the driver of the bakkie was turning into Poets Street from Swartkoppies when he hit the bike after the rider passed another vehicle on the far side. “The biker died on impact. The driver of the bakkie was treated for shock,” said Chantal Peel, a paramedic from National Paramedics.
Emergency and legal authorities were on scene. The accident is under investigation.
