One shot in Alberton City jewellery store hit

“We are not sure about the amount of jewellery that was stolen.”

ONE suspect out of six was shot and wounded on May 31 after an armed robbery at Belgravia Jewellery store in Alberton City.

“Three armed men with pistols entered the shop and held a sales person at gunpoint while stealing some of the jewellery. Another three men entered the shop and demanded money,” said Captain Manare Ramotshela from Alberton SAPS.

GUN: This is one of the suspect’s pistols.

He told the RECORD that the manager shot one of the supects on his upper body, but all six suspects managed to escape with the stolen goods. The suspects fled the scene in a silver Golf 7 GTI DP 18 ZD GP.

“We are not sure about the amount of jewellery that was stolen,” he said.

Legal authorities were on the scene. Anyone with more information is urged to contact Cpt Ramotshela on 079 695 1318.
