Tsakane- The police recovered suspected stolen goods from a house in Turffontein after two male suspects aged 30 and 35 were arrested on Friday evening.
It is alleged that the two have been breaking into homes in Tsakane, KwaThema and Springs from February.
Tsakane police spokeswoman, Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu, says the suspect was arrested for possession of suspected stolen items.
“The items consist of house appliances, clothes, shoes, wrist watches and blankets.
“The breakthrough came after the police conducted a house robbery analysis project. The area has been plagued with house robberies.
“In most incidents of house robberies, the modus operandi (pattern of crime) was the same and the Silver Audi, with the registration DR94WZ GP, which was used in these crimes, was spotted,” she says.
“The owner of the Audi was traced and he was investigated. That led us to the most frequently visited places by that specific Audi in Turffontein.
“The members of Ekurhuleni East Cluster Crime Prevention task team were deployed in Turffontein area to trace the Audi in question. It was followed to the address where stolen items were found.
“Members of the community will be informed when to come to the police station to view the items.”
