Possible muthi killing has police concerned

Two passers-by spotted the body of the victim as they were heading to the veld to pray.

ANOTHER body has been found in an area near Alberton, exposing a worrying trend.

At approximately 4.20pm on Monday, June 26, the murdered body of a man, suspected to be between 25 and 30 years old, was found in a veld in Thinasonke, near Alrode.

Two passers-by spotted the body of the victim as they were heading to the veld to pray.

The body was partly covered with leaves, presumably to hide it from plain sight.

The man’s armpits, genitals, ears and right hand were severed and missing from the scene.

According to Captain Lindi Moloi, spokesperson for the Brackendowns Police Station, authorities believe it was a muthi killing.

“The arms had deep wounds and it seems as though they (the perpetrator/s) were draining the blood from his body.”

This latest murder is just one more in a long string of bodies being found in Alberton and its surrounds in the last few months, causes ranging from rape, murder, the homeless dying of unconfirmed causes.

“Open fields are the biggest problem at this stage as it allows the criminals to target victims without much chance of witnesses,” says Moloi.

The victim was wearing a black Identity (clothing brand) jacket, white golf shirt and light grey pants.
