THE tranquility of Eden Park West was shattered on July 22, when four men were shot by two unknown men armed with firearms. Three of the four died in hospital.
Police reports allege that, on Saturday at around 10.30pm, two armed men arrived at a house in Eden Park West and knocked at the door, saying they were looking for a gentleman staying in the area.
According to Investigating Office Constable Surprise Khoza, a witness who was in the house with her boyfriend spoke to the suspects through a closed door. “The woman said her boyfriend told the suspects that the person they were looking for stayed next door. Suddenly, four shots were fired through the closed door and footsteps of people running away were heard. The boyfriend was shot in the chest,” said Constable Khoza. He died on the scene.
It is further reported that, as the thugs were running away, they passed a group of eight men and started shooting at them. Three of the eight were wounded. Two of the wounded died in hospital.
“Anyone with information must please contact our office on 011 439 1800 or Constable Khoza on 065 850 2818.
We have been told that the suspects escaped in a white Golf. The only known registration is: JJP…GP,” said Captain Emmanuel Jele. Police are investigating the matter.
