Dagga found again at high school

"We have to deal rigorously with those who sell dagga and drugs to school learners."

ON August 17, Eden Park SAPS, EMPD, Correctional Services, patrollers and police from different stations conducted a school search at Eden Park Secondary School, where eight learners were found with dagga, knives and cigarettes.

On Thursday, August 24, the group surprised learners with a second school search which produced almost identical results. “Just like in the first search, we found learners with dagga pokes and cigarettes. This time there were no knives. The culprits were all taken to the Eden Park SAPS station and were all given warnings,” said Sergeant Mitta Baloyi-Badi.

One learner from the first group found with dagga, was also part of the first group brought in on August 17 and was consequently issued with a warning.

“Dagga and weapons seem to be a serious matter at all schools. We have to deal firmly with those who sell dagga and drugs to school learners. If we don’t, the situation will get out of hand and eventually every learner will be smoking dagga,” said Sergeant Baloyi-Badi.
