Park slide stolen

Three months ago the sliding section of the slide in the park went missing and now the complete structure is gone.

SWINGS and slides at Opelweg Park were installed for the joys and pleasure of the learners of Opelweg Primary and children of the community close to the school.

But then, the steel structures were dismantled bit by bit. Three months ago the sliding section of the slide in the park went missing and now the complete structure is gone.

Again, the community is placing the blame on the nyaope addicts. A resident, who wishes to remain anonymous said: “The nyaope addicts steal any metal item they see. First, they stole the sliding portion and then returned three months later to steal the rest of the structure.”

The steel structures in the parks have been stolen before and were replaced by the metro. “The stealing does not seem to stop as long as addicts have the need for money to entertain their habits,” the resident said.
