Hijackers abandon truck with cargo

Hijacked truck filled with stationery left abandoned in Palmridge.

A 10-ton truck driving near Zonkezizwe in the Kathlehong area was hijacked on November 20.

Capt Vusi Mhlope of Eden Park SAPS said the police were notified early on November 21 about an abandoned truck in Extention Four, Palmridge.

“We contacted Zonkezizwe SAPS and they confirmed that they were investigating a case of hijacking in their area. Upon further investigation we were informed that the truck was loaded with stationery.

“The owner of the truck only arrived at our station on November 23 after the truck had already been towed to Benoni by the Vehicle Criminal Investigating Unit (VCIU) who will now be handling the case and do further investigations,” Mhlophe said.
