A family in Hudson Street was woken by their dog’s continuous barking on February 3.
The owner (who wishes not to be named) told the RECORD that he shouted through the window for the dog but it kept barking and then he went to the front door to restrain the dog. When the family woke on Sunday morning they discovered that a window was open and the burglar bars broken and found some items in the house have been stolen.
“The thieves stole a laptop, DVD player, CDs and bottles of expensive imported wine. The television and music centre were still there but moved from the wall as if they were about to unplug it,” the owner said.
“I made a mistake of walking in the dark to my front door. Maybe I disturbed them and they remained in their hiding spaces and fled when I walked back to my bedroom,” he said.
The family did not open a case with SAPS.
