ON Sunday morning, April 15, when everything was quiet and many residents have gone to church to worship, something strange happened at the local taxi rank which is usually closed on a Sunday. A man, he identified himself as a taxi driver, was busy removing part of the palisade fence at the rank and was caught red-handed.
The security guard at the rank, known only as Lebohang, said: “I was at the clinic and rates office which is adjacent to the rank when I heard a strange noise. I saw a man cutting the palisade fence and I immediately rushed in and called the police.
“The man told the police that he is a taxi driver and was sent by the taxi owner to remove the fence because he wanted to fix it. The taxi owner was called and upon his arrival, he was asked why they would want to repair something that belongs to EMM. He could not give an explanation,” Lebohang said.
According to the security guard, the taxi owner and his driver were instructed by the police to load the fence and take it over to the premises of the clinic and rates offices.
