TWELVE learners from Frances Vorwerg School participated in an archery competition at the Arnold Classic, hosted at the Sandton Convention Centre on Saturday, May 19.Several divisions were entered, namely, the men u-21, the ladies u-21 and the youth division. The learners were stressed and the anxiety showed in the first few ends, but as the competition moved on, so the shots got better and the arrows straighter.
After two sessions and 60 arrows were shot, the results were announced and the following learners were rewarded with medals:
Men u-21: Dylan Heine (gold), Justin Vieira (silver) and Darryl Pieterse (bronze).
Ladies u-21: Jade Oberholtzer (gold), Emma Conyers (silver) and Tammy Gucher-Greef (bronze).
Youth: Dean Heine (gold) and Ryno Wiggett (silver).
“Our thanks must go to the South African Archery Association for hosting the competition and to the parents who so graciously and without waiver provide excellent support,” said Anandi Spies on behalf of the school.
