BREAKING NEWS: WATCH – Two arrested after shootout in New Market

Suspects try to get away in high-speed shootout - one still on the run.

TWO suspects have been caught by CPS Security’s tactical team on June 8 after 1pm.

Nardus Hollander from CPS tactical team told the RECORD that he recognised the silver car from a police meeting after they’ve received a lookout for it.

FOUND: Bags filled with house break-in implements as well as a two-way radio were found in the vehicle.

“I saw the car in Jacqueline Street and Meredy Street in Randhart and when I tried to stop them, they started shooting at me. There was a high-speed chase. They crashed into another car at Lemon Tree Shopping Centre, climbed out and ran away,” said Nardus.

According to Tyrone van der Merwe, sales director from CPS, the suspects threw their firearms out of the vehicle while driving.

Inside the vehicle they found a two-way radio and a couple of bags with break-in implements.

“The silver car’s number plate is false and it comes up as registered to a white Quantum bakkie,” said Van der Merwe.

WATCH:

After further investigation it was established that these men are linked to other burglary cases.

No injuries were reported.

Other legal authorities including SAPS were on scene and will investigate the matter.

The RECORD did ask for comment from Alberton SAPS and will publish it as soon as it is received.
