EMPD’s Public Order Policing (POP) Task Team members were presented with letters of commendation by the Tokoza SAPS management on July 6 for apprehending four suspects believed to be responsible for the kidnapping and murder of a taxi driver.
The letters of commendation were presented to the EMPD POP Unit commander Chief Superintendent Julius Mkhwanazi and 11 of his task team members at Tokoza Police Station by the acting station commander Colonel Chauke accompanied by Captain Dube and Captain Homu.
On receiving the information of the missing taxi driver and his Toyota Quantum, the metro police burnt the midnight oil for several days and eventually the body of the taxi driver was located with its head wrapped in a plastic bag with wounds resembling a knife attack. The Toyota Quantum was also recovered.
