Barbara Esmé Fenton murder case postponed

The case has been postponed until December 19 in Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court and February 26 in Nelspruit Magistrate's Court.

Shaun Oosthuizen(38) and Johnny du Plooy(26) who stand accused of murdering Barbara Esmé Fenton in Alberton on September 1, appeared in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s court on October 31.

The case was postponed to December 19 for the DNA analysis. The magistrate recognised that DNA evidence does take a while to be processed and therefore remanded the case until its completion. The pair remains in custody with no bail.

Following the proceedings, an altercation between people sitting in the gallery and the accused led to an unnamed person attempting to spit on Oosthuizen as he was escorted to the cells. Oosthuizen attempted to spit back at the aggressor. As far as the RECORD is aware, there were no repercussions for either the parties involved at the time.

The suspects appeared in Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on October 26 for a case running concurrently. The case was postponed to February 26, 2019.
