Drunk driver arrested and 127 citations issued during roadblock

The 32-year-old male driver arrested for drunken driving is expected to appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court soon.

A STRONG contingent of 49 EMPD specialised unit comprising Freeway, Public Order Policing, Overloads, K9 and Equestrian mounted a roadblock on R59 Southbound between Kliprivier and R550 exits on December 15 from 7am to 11am.

A motorist was arrested for exceeding the legal drinking limit on a public road and was detained at Brackendowns Police Station. The 32-year-old male is expected to appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court soon.

Additionally, 127 spot summonses were issued for invalid documentation, defective tyres, defective lights and equipment.
