Man detained for possession of dagga

A suspect was arrested for being in possession of R1 000 of dagga.

ALBERTON – A Metro police officer had stopped at the corner of Moorat and Buffeslspoort Streets around 20:00 on December 5 to converse with a Community Police Forum member, when a white Opel Corsa with a male driver was spotted driving aimlessly.

The vehicle was stopped and when the metro police officer realised that the man was acting nervously, he decided to search the vehicle. Hidden under the passenger seat of the Opel was a plastic bag full of dagga.

The suspect was arrested and dagga with an estimated street value of R1 000 was confiscated. The 21-year-old was charged with possession and dealing in dagga at Brackendowns Police Station.

He was expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
