ALBERTON SAPS is appealing to the community to assist them with any information regarding a suspect wanted for theft.
The incident occurred on July 8, when an Alberton resident visited a shop on Austell Street in New Redruth with a family member.
The victim noticed that a person was attempting to steal his vehicle and he immediately ran to his car.
When he arrived at the vehicle, he found a man in possession of a firearm carrying goods taken from his car.
The victim then shot twice towards the suspect’s getaway car with his own firearm. The culprits managed to escape the scene with money, two firearm magazines and ammunition from the victim’s car.
A case of theft of a motor vehicle has been registered with the Alberton SAPS.
“The police plead to the community to come forward with any information they may have about this incident,” said Capt Manare Ramotshela, spokesperson for the Alberton SAPS.
“Alberton SAPS management wants to see to it that all the criminals in our area are on the official register. There is no room for criminals in Alberton.”
