Suspected dagga dealer arrested

The suspect was locked up at Alberton Police Station and charged with possession of and dealing in dagga.

A SUSPECTED dagga dealer operating at Ring Road West and Redruth Street taxi rank was arrested on July 22.

Information on complaints from commuters about a person allegedly selling dagga was followed up by EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members who arrested the man at about 12.15pm.

On locating the suspect within the taxi rank, the DEU members searched him and came across 17 ziplock bags of dagga, three big size ziplock bags as well as cash amounting to R298.

The 21-year-old male suspect was locked up at Alberton Police Station, charged with possession of and dealing in dagga.

He is expected to appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
