Three suspects arrested in Palm Ridge for possession of khat

The suspects were handcuffed when six ziplocks of khat valued at R1 000 was uncovered.

ON July 30, around midday, EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) officers acted upon information received about persons suspected to be peddling drugs in Palm Ridge.

The DEU officers’ efforts paid off as three suspects were arrested for possession of illicit substances.

The trio was found at a house situated on Hortentia Street and was handcuffed when six ziplocks of khat valued at R1 000 was found.

Cash amounting to R200, suspected to be proceeds from illicit dealings, was confiscated.

The suspects, aged 63, 44 and 18 were locked up at Eden Park Police Station on charges of possession and dealing in narcotics.

They are expected to appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
