SAPS arrests suspected arms dealer

SAPS arrested the suspect for possession of unlicensed firearms and unlawful possession of ammunition.

BRACKENDOWNS SAPS, together with Brackendowns CPF and CPS Security, conducted a sting operation run by Geoff Steyn of Brackendowns CPF.

The operation took place after information was received regarding a house in Christiaan Street, Brackenhurst, where unlicensed firearms and ammunition were hidden.

Information received indicated that the firearms were being rented out for various robberies.

Const Riaan Venter and Const Cendy Molopi searched the house with Steyn and recovered two unlicensed firearms.

An antique firearm, that can’t shoot, and with no registration number, was also seized.

Police seized 309 rounds of ammunition from the suspect.

A white male suspect was arrested and the suspect was then taken to Brackendowns SAPS where he was charged for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Brackendowns SAPS would like to congratulate all parties involved in the arrest.

The three seized firearms which includes one antique and two unlicensed firearms.
