Hofmeyer is back in court for speeding

Afrikaans singer Steve Hofmeyr is in the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate's Court on Thursday on charges of reckless and negligent driving and exceeding the general speed limit.

JOHANNESBURG – Channel 24 reported, “During a previous appearance, he said he wanted to settle the case out of court.”

Hofmeyr was arrested in Bronkhorstspruit on the evening December 19, and was released on bail of R500.

According to reports, “Gauteng traffic police spokeswoman Busaphi Nxumalo said Hofmeyr was caught driving at 169km/h in an 80km/h zone.”

In a statement posted on his Facebook page a day after his arrest, Hofmeyr said it was irresponsible to speed.

He also complimented the police officers who dealt with him, describing them as ‘friendly, professional and thorough’ and thanked those who were on duty.
