Come and support both our local players and the Golden Lions at Marais Viljoen from September 23 to September 28.

SPIDER tech Golden Lions Rugby Union Youth Rugby held their official capping ceremony on September 15 at Emirates Airline Park. The capping ceremony was to recognise and welcome the new youth rugby players ahead of the interprovincial tournament to be held at Hoërskool Marais Viljoen High School from September 23 to September 28.

During the tournament, they will come face to face with the Sharks Youth Rugby Union, Blue Bull Youth Rugby Union and Valke Union.

The Golden Lions will take six teams to the tournament. Of great pride to them is that this is the first year they have a girls team taking part in the tournament.

The team was capped alongside the boys and immediately integrated with them, sharing their team’s motivational cries with each other.

The tournament, being played in Alberton, is a great moment for the boys from Alberton who made the Golden Lions team. According to Tyler Paulson, an u-18 player from Marais Viljoen.

He is most excited to see the talent they will play against and to play rugby and enjoy it.

In all, there are 17 players from Alberton Rugby Club taking part in the tournament across the various age groups.

Come and support both our local players and the Golden Lions at Marais Viljoen from September 23 to September 28.
