Glenanda Primary School honours teacher’s memory

The funds were generated through a Cake and Candy Sale held earlier this year.

Grade Three learners at Glenanda Primary School donated R30 400 to Stepping Stone Hospice and Care Services last week .

These funds were raised in memory of one of their Grade Three teachers who died at the Stepping Stone Hospice’s in-patient unit in January this year.

The funds were generated through a Cake and Candy Sale held earlier this year.

CEO of the hospice Tersia Burger attended the school’s assembly on October 10, and, in accepting the cheque, thanked the learners and the staff of the school for their kindness, assuring them that the funds will be used to continue the care provided to those facing a life-limiting illness.

With October being Hospice Awareness Month and October 11 dedicated to the 21 million children worldwide in need of palliative care, Burger also asked the learners to wear a hat on October 11, as part of the #HATSON4CPC campaign.

Head of the Grade Threes Previna Naidoo then sent a group photo that proudly displayed their hats on the day.

This is not the first time Glenanda Primary assisted and acknowledged the work Stepping Stone Hospice does.

A Flip-Flop Civvies Day on March 28, 2018, at Glenanda Primary raised funds to donate two laptops and R2 120 in cash to Stepping Stone Hospice.

The laptops are now used in the newly established Centre for Palliative Learning at Stepping Stone Hospice.
