Grade 10 learners completes entire Kumon programme

He completed the programme, which at this level is equivalent to third-year math at university.

Gerhard le Roux, a Grade 10 learner from Alberton who attends Helpmekaar College, proved the value of hard work and the value of the Kumon programme in excelling in math.

He completed the programme, which at this level is equivalent to third-year math at university.

Completing the programme is no easy task. It took committing to attending classes twice a week and doing homework every day.

This includes doing corrections until all worksheets are completely correct.

The hard work paid off and Gerhard passed the second term Grade 10 math of the IEB curriculum and achieved 97 per cent.

He also completed the second term advanced math based on the Grade 12 IEB curriculum with a mark of 94 per cent.

“Kumon was one of the most helpful methods in my short mathematics career,” said Gerhard.

“In these few years, Kumon hasn’t only taught me how to do math, but how to think with an open mind. It has also taught me self-discipline by completing a book every day.

“I encourage every learner to complete the Kumon programme as this will really benefit you and your work in math in the future.”
