EMPD recovers drugs worth thousands

Arrests as a result of the EMPD’s Drug unit operation were conducted in Actonville, Villa Lisa and Eden Park areas from November 21 till 22 at 2am.

Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) Drug Enforcement unit has found narcotics worth R38 100 and confiscated R8 872 cash during its operation.

The operation was conducted in Actonville, Villa Lisa and Eden Park areas from November 21 to 22 at 2am. They arrested eight suspects.

Following a body search, a 47-year-old undocumented man was arrested in Actonville and was found with crystal meth, dagga and a portable digital scale.

He was also in possession of 35 ziplocks of crystal meth, two ziplocks of dagga valued at R12 500, and R1 080 cash.

The suspect was apprehended and taken to Actonville Police Station.

Other arrests were made in Villa Lisa, Boksburg from 8pm to 9pm.

A couple, as well as male suspects were also apprehended.

On them, officers discovered 18 ziplocks of crystal meth, 81 newspaper wrapped packets and 48.48 grams of dagga.

They also seized 53 half, and one full mandrax tablets valued at R11 000, and R1 382 cash. The trio was marched to Dawn Park Police Station.

Again, between 10.30pm and midnight in Eden Park, a female suspect, as well as a couple were arrested.

The drug unit seized 2,48 grams of heroin, one digital portable scale, 44 ziplocks of khat valued at R14 600, and R6 410 cash. The trio was taken to Eden Park Police Station.

All the suspects were charged with possession of and dealing in illicit substances.

The suspects will appear in relevant Magistrate’s courts soon.
