Convicted John Cassim, a 27-year-old man from Malawi, was found guilty on three charges by the Johannesburg High Court on November 26.
This comes after Alberton SAPS, together with other role players, attended a murder scene in New Redruth in February 2018 at around 9.35pm.
Alberton SAPS’ investigating officer Det Sgt Mbuso Mbele, assisted by other members, secured the man’s arrest.
The court sentenced Cassim life imprisonment for murder, life imprisonment for rape and 15 years for robbery.
The station commander, Col Doctor Sibuyi, welcomed the court judgment and sentencing.
