BRACKENDOWNS – A few residents in the Brackendowns area have been experiencing problems regarding school students from Glenbrack Junior Secondary high school, who are apparently smoking and kissing outside their homes. A number of online sources show that the school is unregistered.
The principal of the shool, J. Motshitela, supplied the necessary information regarding these concerns, explaining, “Our school code of conduct is very clear on the behaviour of our learners that they must conduct themselves in an orderly way. I have no knowledge of such behaviour, but we will investigate the concerns raised and deal with offenders who are bringing the school’s name in disrepute. As the school we do not condone inappropriate behaviour in public. I urge any member of the community to notify me of any learner from my school who they see behaving in an unorderly way.”
The information supplied by the principal about registration: The school is a public school registered with GDE since January 2004, when it was opened. “I tried several times to have the department of education remove the word ‘unregistered’ but they have failed to do so,” said the principal.
The school has been in existence for 10 years and it has offered matric examinations since 2008, according to principal J. Motshitela.
The GDE supplied information which confirms that the school is registered: Glenbrack Junior Secondary School is registered with the department with EMIS number 700400109.
