DA councillors defect to ANC

Two Democratic Alliance (DA) councillors snubbed their party when they ‘publicly’ defected to the ANC.

EKURHULENI – Two DA Ekurhuleni councillors Stephen Shabalala and David Veli Mosehla are now facing suspension from the party after they publicly defected to the ANC at the DA’s Real Jobs March in the Johannesburg CBD.

Gauteng Provincial Leader, John Moodey, has confirmed the planned suspension of David Veli Mosehla and Stephen Shabalala as DA members.

According to Moodey, “The defection comes after a recent guilty verdict in a disciplinary against Mosehla and the underperformance of Shabalala.

“Given the ANC’s response to the march on Wednesday it is a better fit for these two councillors to move to an organisation that has no regard for democracy and the rule of law.”

While some of Shabalala’s friends welcomed his decision on facebook, others were in shock, especially days after he posted on his page, “Rest assured my blood is blue for life. DA”

Neither Shabalala nor Mosehla were available for comment.

  1. Traitors, but we shall over come! The ruling party might have won the battle but the war is not over yet! Poverty, corruption, non service delivery and racism will be a thing of the past. Come May 2014 (Election Day), we the DA will stand together and cast owe votes
