‘Pristorius is innocent until proven guilty’
On the first day of his trial, Oscar Pristorius pleaded not guilty on all charges against him and Dr Klatzow said he is innocent until proven guilty.
PRETORIA – Speaking to Eyewitness News, Dr Klatzow said, “Oscar Pristorius is legally innocent until proven guilty by the courts.”
Taking into consideration the evidence is yet to be presented to the court, Dr Klatzow believes he should be seen as an innocent man. According to him the public should forget about all the media hype around the trial and focus on the evidence presented in court.
During an interview, Dr Klatzow said, “The courts need to determine whether he intended to kill Reeva Steenkamp or not.”
He said the evidence presented in court will determine if Pristorius will face premeditated murder, culpable homicide or if it was a case of mistaken identity at that given time when he fired the shots.
However, the court will not ignore the four shots he took when Steenkamp was killed on Valentine’s Day morning in 2013.
“A question that will definitely be asked would be why he went in so close to the door, instead of moving away from a perceived danger area,” Dr Klatzow told Eyewitness News.
