First rugby team off to Cape Town

General Alberts' first rugby team are on their way to Cape Town, although they needed funds to cover their trip.

ALBERTON – Today, no task involving lots of money is possible with a little assistance from the community, therefore The Dros Alberton in conjunction with parents and Harley Davidson Johannesburg raised funds for General Alberts’ rugby boys.

On February 28 funds were raised and raffles were sold. A percentage of the profits made by Dros were handed over to the school to assist in their young stars going to Cape Town.

All together there are 17 schools participating.

The boys will not only be going for rugby, but they will also visit for the educational side of things, visiting Table Mountain and museums.

Tracey Vilarinho, a parent at the school, arranged for Harley Davidson Johannesburg’s local raisers to add to the fundraising.

The night was a huge success with the smiles on the boys’ faces getting bigger and brighter as the night continued.
