CPS Security reacted to the following incidents and made a couple of arrests:
• On May 13 one of CPS Security’s officers arrested a suspect in Hibiscus Street in General Alberts Park. This is after they received panic signals from a client who spotted an unknown male breaking into a property.
“Our reaction officers were dispatched which resulted in one suspect being apprehended and all stolen goods recovered,” said Tyrone van der Merwe, sales director.
• Three suspects were arrested on May 13 in McBride Street in Brackenhurst with the help of Sergeant Riaan Venter from Brackendowns SAPS.
“Our control room received a call regarding a suspicious motor vehicle standing in a park. Reaction units were dispatched to investigate,” said van der Merwe.
The vehicle and occupants were searched and arrested for being in possession of unlicensed ammunition, for possession of drugs, being in possession of suspected stolen property valued at about R45 000, for possession of dangerous weapons and Covid-19 violations.
• Another three suspects were arrested on May 14 after a high speed chase in the Randhart area.
“A suspicious vehicle was spotted and back-up was requested. The car then sped off jumping several red traffic lights and was eventually stopped on Swartkoppies Road,” said van der Merwe.
Upon further investigation it was discovered that the suspects have been linked to several cases ranging from car theft to car hijacking. Officers found Toyota computer boxes, gloves, car breaking implements and Toyota keys in the suspects’ vehicle.
“We have had an increase in Toyota Etios’s being stolen in the area. Feel free to send us your case numbers,” said van der Merwe.
A case was opened at Alberton SAPS where the suspects are being detained.
