Ekurhuleni resolves meter problem

A meter problem reported to EMM more than four times has been resolved

MAYBERRY PARK – Frans Joubert, a resident of Koorboom Road in Mayberry Park, was concerned about incorrect meter readings by the EMM for the second time.

The first incident occurred on February 25, when he explained that there was an incorrect reading done by the EMM. The EMM said that they came to read the meter and that it showed a value of 564 kw/h, but Frans proved to them that the reading was incorrect and was in fact 615kw/h.

An EMM representative came around on March 10, after Frans had gone to the Ekurhuleni offices explaining the problem.

Frans Joubert indicates where the incorrect readings took place: the meter box is on the left and the electrical box on the right, left open.

A representative from EMM sent someone out to take the reading. The representative’s reading was 621kw/h, which is a 57kw/h difference, according to Frans. He was only credited to the value of 30kw/h.

“How can the reading be 564kw/h on February 25, and 615kw/h on February 26?” he asked.

The statement date, May 6, indicated a reading of 841kw/h according to Frans, and on May 21 the resident took a snapshot that showed a reading of 670kw/h. “How is this possible?” he wanted to know.

On the same day, Councillor Haipel was informed of the concern and the matter was dealt with accordingly.

“I got hold of the councillor of the ward, Bruna Haipel, and within ten minutes they called me back and the problem was solved. The account has been sorted out. Thank you Bruna for running the extra mile,” said Frans.

“Thank you to Magda Uys, she is really tops. She sorted out the problem there and then. I just happened to be in her office and it was sorted,” said Bruna.
