JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Detective Sergeant Hlatswayo of the Moffatview Police received information from an anonymous source that the vehicle which hijacked people was seen at one of the houses in Vosloorus.
The officers also received a tip that the original rims from the hijacked vehicle have been sold and the vehicle is now driving with different mag rims.
On Tuesday July 22, Serg Hlatswayo visited the address where the vehicle was seen. On arrival there was a group of men doing garden work. A Renault was parked in the yard and a black Audi was parked next door.
Sergeant Hlatswayo asked for back-up before he and other officers entered the house and started searching the place.
Sergeant Hlatswayo noticed that one man was carrying something. He searched the man and found a firearm in his possession.
The man did not have its license and was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm. Sergeant Hlatswayo proceeded to a room where he found a handbag containing another firearm.
The officers opened an Audi and noticed that the dashboard was tampered with. Sergeant Mpai searched the Audi and found items which were linked to his case.
The Chassis registration number matched that of a black Audi which was stolen from Brackendowns.
“We are also worried about hijackings which are taking place in our area. We are dealing with it and three suspects were arrested at Vosloorus last week concerning these hijackings. We are doing all we can to prevent it. We ask the community to help us with information to help us find and arrest them,” said Constable Bila.
