Fugitive who skipped bail in 2013 caught

Erratic driving attracted the attention of the EMPD Community Liaison Unit officers patrolling in the Tokoza area.

ALBERTON – The Audi A3’s driver was recognised by the EMPD officers as the suspect who skipped bail. The suspect was arrested in January 2013 on charges of a business robbery committed in the Carnival Mall in Brakpan.

The driver was arrested again on Friday, September 19 at 16:30.

The 33-year-old suspect’s residence in Germiston was searched. Metro police officers discovered a nine millimetre Nirinco pistol and eight live rounds of ammunition. The serial numbers of the pistol were filed off.

It has been confirmed that the arrested suspect has been on the run for months after he skipped his bail.

Charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession were registered at the Germiston police station.

The suspect will appear in the Brakpan Magistrate Court on Monday on a pending case of skipping bail.
