THOKOZA – Young openly lesbian Zozo was brutally murdered in Thokoza and her body was found strangled and half naked, with a toilet brush forced inside her genitals.
Her family and friends have been attending court proceedings since and are hoping the alleged murderer and once neighbour of Zozo, Lesley Motleleng, would plead guilty on Tuesday November 25.
It is alleged the suspect could have killed Zozo in a hate crime for her sexual orientation, but that has not been confirmed in court.
The terrifying incident attracted the attention of all media houses and lesbian activists back in 2013, but now family and friends cannot wait to see the suspect admit to the crimes and receive a sentence.
A friend of Zozo, Jabu Hadebe, said: “The trials are exhausting, but at this stage nothing will make me happier than seeing the suspect get a life sentence.”
