Hijacked car recovered quickly

It was a normal sunny Monday morning on January 5 when a resident of Bentley street pulled his car out to attend to business as usual. In a matter of minutes his car was hijacked by two armed robbers who sped off in the directions of Palmridge.

ALBERTON – It is alleged by eyewitnesses who were sitting at a nearby tuck-shop, that at 08:00 two guys went past them. Suddenly they went to the car parked outside the gate and pulled out guns. One aimed at the car owner in the premises while the other took out the child from the car. The bystanders were shouting and swearing at the hijackers but they took off at high speed.

Fortunately the car was recovered in Katlehong in a matter of hours, thanks to the quick response of the police and especially to one very alert local Metro police officer who saw the car speeding passed his house. The metro cop, knowing the car owner, alerted his colleagues in Thokoza and Katlehong. The car was tracked down to Katlehong where it was found abandoned.
