Southgate spearheads school swop shop
From January 16 to February 1, Southgate Mall, owned and managed by Pareto Limited, will host a back-to-school swop shop where shoppers can donate new or used uniforms, backpacks, books and other stationery to the 60 children of the Orlando Children’s Home in Orlando East, Soweto.

Mirriam Mazibuko, director of the Orlando Children’s Home, said: “We believe that being prepared for school gives them confidence, which greatly impacts our children’s academic performance throughout the entire year.”
Contributors will receive Mystery Moola scratch cards based on the value of their donation, where they stand to win their share of R10 000. Parents and children doing their school shopping can also pop into the stand with their receipts for school supplies purchased from Checkers, Shoprite, CNA, Edgars, Game, Jet Mart, PEP or Pick ‘n Pay to the value of R250 or more, for a chance to win more back to school goodies.
The campaign forms part of Pareto Limited’s support of education, which includes the construction of the NuMiracle Learning Centre, launching at the end of February 2015, in which learners from selected communities will regularly attend computer-based maths lessons after school.
The back to school swop shop will run daily from 09:00 during mall hours; Monday to Thursday and Saturdays until 18:00, Fridays until 19:00 and Sundays until 16:00.
