Car thieves caught in the act

On Wednesday January 28 two suspected motor vehicle thieves were apprehended by Brackendowns SAPS at a local shopping centre.

One suspect was found inside a shopper’s vehicle after she had left it locked in the parking lot. When she discovered a man inside her car; the shopper alerted security. The suspect attempted to leave the scene in another car, but was prevented from doing so by security and a passing bakkie.

The suspect and his alleged accomplice were arrested and charged with attempted motor vehicle theft. Both appeared at Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Thursday, January 29.

Brackendowns SAPS Sergeant Lindi Moloi has advised that community members always check their vehicles are properly locked, especially vehicles that use remote central locking devices.
