GDE shocked by Eden Park teen death
The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) is deeply saddened by the passing away of a learner on Monday February 16 at Eden Park Secondary School.
EDEN PARK – “The department would like to extend its sincere condolence to the family of the deceased learner and the entire school community of Eden Park Secondary School,” the department said in a statement.
“At this stage we cannot confirm what led to the death of the learner and has launched an independent investigation into the matter.”
The independent investigators visited the District Office today and will be visiting the school tomorrow for further investigations.
The department has sent its psychosocial team to the school to provide trauma debriefing to learners and educators affected by this unfortunate incident.
Officials from the department will visit the family of the deceased learner.
