SAPS officer arrested

Alberton - An Alberton SAPS lieutenant colonel was arrested on Wednesday, February 4 on charges of corruption.

The police official appeared at Palm Ridge High court on Thursday, February 5.

Depending on the outcome of the case, internal disciplinary steps will be taken against the officer, according to a statement released by Provincial spokesperson Major Mngomezulu.

The RECORD enquired as to the circumstances of the Lt-Colonel’s arrest including whether the officer was on active duty before being arrested or under suspension or investigation. According to Major Mngomezulu, no more information is available at this time.
