EMPD officer threatens family

On Thursday February 5 a family in Brackendowns approached their neighbours and asked them to keep the noise down.

They requested that they arrange a meeting to discuss the noise and resolve the issue.

Ten days later the family was confronted in their driveway by a relative of the neighbouring household, an Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department official in uniform.

The officer reportedly told them that if they ever made contact with a family member of his again, he would make their lives hell. The officer allegedly repeatedly made the statement with his hand resting on his gun.

The family made a statement with the EMPD Integrity and Standards Unit and Brackendowns SAPS.

EMPD spokesperson Wilfred Kgasago stated that the ISU is aware of the complaint and envisages that its investigations will be completed by March 20.

Since the investigation has begun, the family has reported that dealings with their neighbours have soured and they are considering relocation.
