Police recover stolen vehicles

EDEN PARK - A white Nissan Hilux double-cab bakkie was recovered in Riemvasmaak extension 5 on March 29.

The bakkie, owned by ADDX, was stolen in Douglasdale in a parking area near a supermarket.

“It is alleged by the owner that a female employee drove to a supermarket, and when she came out after a couple of minutes the bakkie was gone. A case of theft was opened in Douglasdale.

“The thieves must have driven the bakkie to Eden Park and abandoned it in Riemvasmaak for a ‘cooling down’ period. But then a very alert resident notified SAPS,” said captain V Mhlophe.

“A white Toyota Carolla was also stolen in Greenfields while the owner was in a shop. He came out of the shop with keys in his hand, but the car was gone. On March 29 residents of Eden Park notified the police about the abandoned vehicle. Both vehicles were brought to the police station and the owners were notified. No arrests have been made but the investigation is ongoing,” he concluded.
