Power out in Alberton
Theft and vandalism at Substation Z7 has resulted in power supply interruptions in parts of Alrode and Thokoza North this morning according to the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.
Areas affected include Alrode industrial are; Thokoza hostels; Basothong, Mpilisweni, Phenduka.
The City is aware of the problem which was caused by the theft of two transformer oil valves. Transformers have reportedly lost close to 20 000 litres of oil. Ekurhuleni technicians are currently on site working around the clock to restore power to all affected areas.
Power is expected to be restored on Saturday morning. Residents will be kept abreast of any developments pertaining to the interruption.
