Work under way to restore Alberton power

Ekurhuleni technicians are at work replacing the stolen cables at the Jan Coetzee substation in Alberton following acts of vandalism yesterday, May 12.

Technicians have been working to replace and repair the damage caused by theft at the facility since last night. The theft has resulted in a power outage to parts of Florentia.

The City of Ekurhuleni issued a statement, “Residents and businesses are assured that the technicians will continue to work around the clock until power is fully restored.”

Residents are urged to treat all electrical networks and equipment as electrically alive.

The municipality wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused by the outage.
